If you read our last post, it explains why you need to constantly have clean make-up tools. When we paint, contour, and flush our faces using makeup brushes every day, it can gradually build up bacteria which can ultimately lead to unwanted breakouts. Here are few tips on how to clean your makeup brushes
Firstly, place your makeup brushes under lukewarm water. Use your fingers to spread out the bristles. Try to avoid getting water on the brush where the bristle meets the handle because the water can dissolve the glue and cause the bristles to shed.
Next, place a drop of makeup brush cleanser or soap onto the palm of your hand and gently massage the tips of the bristles in your palm. Spread the bristles to remove any clogged-up makeup. You can use anti-bacterial spray which is very useful especially for smaller brushes used on eyes and lips. It provides a quick-fix cleanse.
Rinse the brush under the lukewarm water and/or spray the antibacterial solution onto the bristles, then wipe back and forth across a clean hand towel or tissues until there are no traces of any residue makeup. Reshape the brush by pressing the bristles between your fingers until it is back to its original shape. Dry your makeup brush with its bristles hanging off the edge of a counter. Never let your brushes dry on a towel because the bristles can become mildewed.
